The installed capacity of renewable energy has steadily expanded. By the end of September 2021, China's installed renewable energy power generation capacity reached 994 million kw. Among them, the installed hydropower capacity is 384 million kW (including 32.49 million kW pumped storage capacity), wind power is 297 million kW, photovoltaic power is 278 million kW, and biomass power is 35.361 million kW.
Renewable energy generation continues to grow. From January to September 2021, China's renewable energy generation will reach 1.75 trillion kilowatt hours. Of this, 903 billion kilowatt-hours of large-scale hydropower, down 0.9% year on year; Wind power 469.4 billion KWH, up 41.5% year on year; Photovoltaic power generation 248.6 billion KWH, up 24.0% year on year; Biomass generated 120.6 billion KWH, up 25.7% year on year.
High utilization of renewable energy is maintained. From January to September 2021, the utilization rate of water energy in major river basins was about 97.6 percent, 1.5 percentage points higher than the same period last year, and 15.39 billion kilowatt-hours of abandoned hydropower were used. The average utilization rate of wind power in China was 96.9%, 0.3 percentage points higher than the same period last year, and the amount of wind abandoned power was about 14.78 billion KWH. The average utilization rate of photovoltaic power generation in China was 98.0%, down 0.3 percentage points from the same period last year, and the amount of discarded electricity was about 5.02 billion KWH.
We will actively promote the construction of large wind power photovoltaic base projects focusing on desert, gobi and desert areas. For further implementation of the CPC Central Committee and state council on major strategic decisions of carbon of peak carbon neutral, speed up the construction of wind power and photovoltaic power generation base, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration in the provinces have conditions put forward by the project, based on the summary is proposed first, with emphasis on the desert, gobi and desert region, large wind power photovoltaic base project, size of about 100 million kilowatts.
